he’s using a $3000 lab-grade programmable DC power supply in constant-current mode to do something a $20 battery minder could do ;)

What JimZ said. He doesn’t own a $20 charger, but we got 5 Keithleys currently powered down in the lab. He even bothered to ‘4-wire’ connect it, so the voltage can be extra accurate.

Had to send this to a coworker. Looks like some shit we’d pull in lab. I know we’ve power-cycled prius batteries for experiments on our gamry units previously.

I miss working in a serious engineering department where we all had these on our desks.

Why not use what you’ve got handy?

I think I need to get that to maintain the battery in my Mercedes and TDI.

Maybe for the Mercedes. The TDI only deserves the Rigol knockoff.

Whoa there brah. I love my TDI as much as my Mercedes. Sometimes more since it actually works more of the time.

I’ve powered a laptop with one (dead AC adapter, snipped the plug end) to see how much current it was drawing at idle and under load.

$20 or $3k... Got the job done, didn’t it? As long as he wasn’t hogging the PS. Something I’ve done
